On the 14th of this month, “Phantom” lapped at an average 284+ mph at Reno. It was done with a set of limited rules. An O-320 engine, fixed pitch prop. True biplane design. So, this weekend, Reno’s national air races are happening. Magic is created every year. go see it. Watch below, for the obiously faster white biplane with skinny wings as it rips along. (2012 gold race... it won...again) You can hear it’s distinctive 4 bladed shredding prop noise.

I totally had tickets for the day when the mustang crashed into the bleachers a few years back, but I didnt go.
